How to Harness the Energy of Labradorite

Protection,Strength and Intuition

Between all of the gemstones that we carry, one of our absolute favorites to use within our collections is Labradorite. The meaning of this stone comes from the location in which it was first found, as it was named after Labrador in Canada. Not only is it visually beautiful, but the energy it emits is comforting, inspiring and unusual all at the same time. With brilliant shifts of deep blue to a spectrum of rainbow hues, each piece is wildly unique and resembles the palette of a peacock’s feathers (what’s not to love?!)

Healing stones are formed under immense pressure with natural elements deep within the core of the earth’s crust. Each stone holds its own type of energy, and certain ones can pack a lot of punch. As with all living things, the human body has a measurable energy field surrounding it, which can be affected positively or negatively. When we interact with crystals like Labradorite, our subtle body can absorb energies from stones which then raise our energy field, allowing them to highly elevate our day-to-day experience.

Interacting with the solar plexus energy center in the body, Labradorite will enhance the user’s personal power and is said to trap the brilliance of the northern lights. For this reason, the stone is widely used to harness “inner magic” and is associated with protection, strength and intuition. Labradorite dispels negative energy, insecurity and fear, and enhances self-confidence. It is one of the most effective stones in treating anxiety, and amplifies a sense of calmness in the user or wearer. This stone is also widely used for psychic development and exploring mystical abilities; and for this reason, it is very popular in modern day mystical collections.

If you pick up on subtle energies you will notice a comforting, yet uplifting vibration emanating from the stone that may almost immediately inspire you. And if that’s not your jam, just observing Labradorite’s beautiful color shift throughout the day may excite you and provide stimulation. If you really want to tap into what this stone has to offer here are some ways to begin working with it:

Wearing Labradorite

Wearing Labradorite may be beneficial if you are looking to aid serendipity, coincidence and synchronicity. It also encourages you to let go of thoughts that may impede you from taking action on those things that you are inspired to do. Wear Labradorite as a constant reminder to channel your inner goddess when it catches your eye throughout the day. What better way to integrate more magic into your life than wearing a good luck charm.

Meditating with Labradorite

Crystals love your attention as they take any energy you give to them and reflect it back to you tenfoldFor this reason, meditating is always a great way to interact with them, but this is especially true with Labradorite. This stone is esoteric in nature and will enhance the user’s ability to connect with the spiritual plane. Not only will it calm your mind to guide you to a meditative state more quickly; it will also allow you to go deeper and really connect with universal healing energies. This is why it is widely used in the spiritual community for healing purposes and is a great addition to any spiritual practice. Holding the stone in your left hand will increase your experience, as this is the “receiving” side of the body. If you’re sensitive to energies, you may especially feel the vibes that this stone emits by hovering it above your wrist.

Dreaming with Labradorite

Many people experience gaining greater insight while in a dream state. Labradorite will enhance dream recall and any spiritual work that you’re trying to achieve while dreaming. An easy way to use Labradorite in connection with dreaming is to keep it by your bed, especially near your head or under your pillow. Gaze at your stone or jewelry piece before bedtime and think about what you’d like to achieve in your dreams, whether it’s communication from spirit guides or lucid imagination, this will lock the experience in. Setting it near your head will allow the stone to interact with your body’s third eye and boost your dreaming experience through stimulating intuition.

101: Must have Essential Oils

Written by Nutritionist Courtney James

Despite the doubts surrounding them, essential oils can be beneficial in helping you achieve balance and alleviate physical and emotional ailments. Personally, I’ve found that, through the use of certain oils, I can find energy, rejuvenation, balance and calm. Given my sensitive body, I prefer to use them externally (as opposed to ingestible oils) or in a diffuser, as the benefits can be very similar to ingesting. Below are my go-to essential oils and how they made it on my list.

Lavender. This oil is a must-have for me. At night, as soon as I inhale it, my brain and body know that I am ready for a deep slumber. Lavender can also provide amazing antibacterial qualities when taken internally, but I reserve it only for its relaxing properties. Simply add a drop to the bottom of each of your feet, as well as a drop on your hands (best applied with a carrier oil such as coconut or rosehip oil  — roughly 2-3 drops to every 3 tablespoons of oil), rub together and take a deep breath. Added bonus —  when I roll my head onto my hands when falling asleep, I inhale it with every breath.

Clary Sage. This oil is extremely important to consider when addressing female hormone balancing and cramping. Apply directly to the abdomen and massage into areas of pain or just need a little extra love and attention. (Massaging this area in and of itself can be a great way to ease discomfort, as our hands on their own are marvelous healers!) On a spiritual level, clary sage can serve as an ‘eye opener’ (hence the name clary, which means ‘clear’), allowing us to expand our perspective and see things we may have not otherwise notice and, moreover, see them with clarity and certainty.

Geranium. An incredible opponent of infection, geranium is also used in conjunction with clary sage oil as a hormone regulator. Among its other distinguishing properties — powerful astringent, alleviates PMS symptoms, heals wounds, diuretic and detoxifier. Plus, it possesses a nurturing scent, which keeps me feeling safe and loved.

Frankincense. This age-old remedy was likened to liquid gold, due to its powerful healing properties. Commonly used in candles and natural deodorizers, frankincense has recently become more prominent as a cell regenerator, as well as combatting hypertension and arthritis. It can be especially helpful for women as it regulates estrogen levels. It also possesses an amazing ability to speed up gastric bile production which, in turn, helps food to move through the intestines more quickly. I am such a fan of frankincense that I’ve incorporated it into my night routine, mixing it with lavender oil on my hands before bed.

Lemon and grapefruit. These are two of my favorite citrus oils — great to add to a bath, as they help detoxify, cleanse (both body and mind) and increase circulation. Grapefruit’s potent purifying properties allow it to fight both water retention and cellulite.

Healing Stone: Chrysocolla

The Stone

Chrysocolla is a carbonate copper gemstone. It’s alluring, vivid blue-green color and is often mistaken for turquoise because they share many visual similarities. It can often be found intermingled with malachite, turquoise and azurite, creating a wonderful mixed gemstone known as eilat stone. Legend has it that eilat stone was originally mined in King Solomon’s mines in Africa. The rich, vibrant blue and green colors of chrysocolla are reminiscent of looking down upon the earth’s surface from space.

Energy Characteristics

Chrysocolla is the gentlest of stones. It’s not a high-energy stone like quartz, rutilated quartz, or smoky quartz, and unlike malachite, azurite and lapis, it doesn’t bring buried emotions to the surface. Its main role is to soothe, calm and inspire. It has the ability to bring harmony, increase wisdom and guide you toward discretion. It promotes level headedness, encouraging clarity of thought and a neutral, calm attitude during turbulence by purifying the home, environment and the mind. Use it to decrease nervousness and irritability.

Healing Properties

Chrysocolla, with associations of tranquility, peace, intuition, patience and unconditional love, is known as a healing stone among Native American cultures where it has been used to strengthen the body’s resistance to illness and emotional duress. It has also been used traditionally to bring about calm feelings where there is upset and can be used to purify a place or restore balance to a person.

Chrysocolla in Jewelry

Chrysocolla is a good choice to wear when you have difficulty expressing your feelings or your creativity. For example, if you work on computers, wear chrysocolla to help you combine your creative ideas with your work as well as to improve the results of your work.

Cleaning Remedies

You should cleanse your chrysocolla once a month by rinsing it under warm running water, and then place it in a bowl of water overnight with a piece of genuine hematite to recharge it.
